Schalkes Sportvorstand Peter Knäbel freut sich über die erste Winter-Neuverpflichtung. Tauer erfülle „alle Voraussetzungen, die wir uns für das Profil gesetzt hatten“, erklärte der 56-Jährige via S04-Website mit. Der 21-Jährige, der auch in der Innenverteidigung einsetzbar ist, kenne die Bundesliga und benötige daher „keine lange Eingewöhnungszeit“. Ich sehe ihn vor allem als Sechser, er kann aber auch als Innen- oder Rechtsverteidiger auflaufen. Ich freue mich darauf, mit ihm auf dem Platz zu arbeiten.“
Der Defensivallrounder zeigt sich begeistert von seinem neuen Klub, weiß aber von der Schwere der Aufgabe: „Ich bin heiß darauf, mit der Mannschaft auf das große Ziel, den Klassenerhalt, hinzuarbeiten. Beim Spiel auf Schalke vor wenigen Wochen habe ich erlebt, welche Kraft das Publikum und die Mannschaft gemeinsam entwickeln können.
